We are very sad to hear the news that Erik Bauersfeld, best known as the voice actor for Admiral Ackbar and Bib Fortuna, has passed away. It is being reported by 94.1 KPFA that Bauersfeld who was 93, passed away yesterday morning – April 3rd, two long time friends were with him at his time of passing— Randy Thom was holding his hand, and poet Lawrence Ferlinghetti was on the phone reading to him.
Bauersfeld provided the voice of Admiral Ackbar & Bib Fortuna in Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi, and reprised his role as Ackbar in Episode VII: The Force Awakens. In addition to the Star Wars work, Bauersfeld also performed in the films A.I. Artificial Intelligence and Crimson Peak.
You would find it hard to find somebody who doesn’t know how the words ‘It’s a Trap’ are said.
Erik is now one with the force, and may he rest in peace.
