First we had Skellig Michael, Then we had the Dingle Peninsula and Ceann Sibeal and now we are hearing that Co.Donegal is being scouted as a location for the yet to be named eight installment of the Star Wars Saga.
Travelling from the bottom to the top of Ireland, suggestions are being made that the location in question is ‘Inisown Peninsula’. It would seem all Hotels and B&B’s are completely booked out during the month of April and May.
Simply Google Inisowen, and you will see that it is not only visually similar to what we have already seen on Ahch-to, but also has a lot of interesting architecture, including Fort Dunree, an old military fort, and The Grianan of Aileach, a ringfort that served as the royal seat of the Kingdom of Ailech, which stands at the entrance to the peninsula…. could there be other dwellers on Ahch-to?
It is understood that Malin head, Ireland’s most northerly point is also a new location, and it is also rumoured that initial works at Malin Head are already underway!
We are only doing backflips at this news! Yet another location we can visit on the weekends! who knows, the cast and crew might like the Irish hospitality so much, we may see them again for episode IX.
